FCB Had Been Incumbent on $8 Million Account

(May 9, 2001) -- Sunbeam Corp.'s Coleman Co. tapped WPP Group's Y&R Advertising, Dearborn, Mich., as its new agency of record for its estimated $8 million account.

The incumbent was True North Communications' FCB Worldwide, Southfield, Mich.

Ted Stacy, who headed the account at FCB, is now the account's senior vice president-management supervisor at Y&R. He said the client wanted to keep the FCB team in tact, if possible. After he and the client met with several agencies, they had decided Y&R was a good fit.

The other former FCB staff, now at Y&R are: Christie Cowan, account supervisor; Craig Yateman, media director; Nancy Lange, senior account executive, and Chip Humitz, account planner.

FCB won the account in August 1999. The Southfield office has had a skeleton staff since losing a shoot-out with Omnicom Group's BBDO Worldwide for the global Chrysler Group account. The office is expected to close by year's end. -- Jean Halliday
