Yahoo! Europe head departs

Fabiola Arredondo, the managing director of Yahoo! Europe, has decided to leave the company "to pursue private business interests." Since joining Yahoo Europe in 1997, Ms. Arredondo has been instrumental in making the company's operations profitable in Europe, with revenues of $114 million in 2000.

Ms. Arredondo will remain at Yahoo Europe for an interim period to work with Jeff Mallett, president-chief operating officer of Yahoo! Inc., and the Yahoo senior team to help manage the transition.

Yahoo Europe is in the process of naming a successor to work with the senior executive team in London and each of the other European countries where the company operates.

Yahoo Europe is one of the leading sites for its users in each of the countries in which it operates, with 31 million unique users throughout Europe visiting the Yahoo network during the month of December 2000.
