Yule spending plans dip

The percentage of Americans who say they plan to spend less this Christmas than last year jumped from 40% in November to 44% in December, according to a national poll by Leo J. Shapiro & Associates, Chicago. The percentage planning to spend more dropped from 29% to 27%. Shapiro said the December poll also found that 46% of respondents expect the economy to get worse in the months ahead, up from 42% in November.
