Ziff-Davis' ZDNet on Wednesday launched the first of 10 international editions, featuring local translations of ZDNet news and buying information as well as access to the ZDNet software library. The first site, for China, was launched in conjunction with ChinaByte, a Chinese-language service developed by Chinese newspaper People's Daily and News. Corp. Sites for Australia, Hong Kong, Italy, Korea, Malaysia/Singapore, Russia, Spain and Taiwan will be online by March; a site for Japan will launch in April. All the sites will take advertising; ZDNet's rep firm, Softbank Interactive Marketing, recently launched an international division and will handle the new markets.
