Matthew Spahn Was Director of Media Planning at Sears

CHICAGO ( -- Advo, a direct-mail marketing services company with $1.2 billion in annual revenues, has named Matthew Spahn its new chief marketing officer.
Advo mails to 112 million mailboxes, or 90% of the nation’s households.

Mr. Spahn, a 14-year veteran at Sears, Roebuck & Co. (now part of Sears Holdings following a merger with Kmart), is charged with product development, research, targeting and communications.

“His extensive background, including knowledge of the advertising industry and expertise in strategic planning across all forms of media, particularly print, will be critical to conveying Advo’s industry-leading advertising capabilities to current and prospective clients,” Advo's CEO, Scott Harding, said in a release.

Media planning
Mr. Spahn’s last post at Sears was director of media planning, where he oversaw planning across all Sears’ businesses and brands. He previously was an account manager at the Newspaper Services of America; at the time Mr. Harding was CEO.

Advo serves 20,000 national, regional and local retailers; the company said it reaches 112 million mailboxes, or 90% of the nation’s households, with its shared advertising mailers, including its core ShopWise product.
