GM Mediaworks Gains Broadcast Director, Campbell Mithun Top Creative Leaves

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Two Interpublic Group of Cos. agencies on Monday announced shifts in their senior-level ranks with media and creative oversight.

GM Mediaworks named Cathy Tocco executive vice president, managing director of local broadcast. Ms. Tocco previously worked for WPP Group's MindShare as director of local broadcast for the Ford Motor Co. account.

At Mediaworks, which buys media for General Motors Corp., she will report to the agency's president, Rick Sirvaitis, president, and will work out of the Warren, Mich., office. According to the agency, Ms. Tocco has been tapped to put together a new management unit.

The GM account at Mediaworks and at sibling LCI has grown from $300 million to more than $800 million. LCI handles local cable, spot TV and radio and hispanic advertising.

Meanwhile, Minneapolis-based Campbell Mithun is mulling candidates for its top creative post as Chief Creative Officer John Hurst prepares to join McCann-Erickson, London, as senior vice president and creative director for the network's Europe, Middle East and Asia unit.

"We're in the process of evaluating our options," said Les Mouser, Campbell Mithun's CEO.

Mr. Hurst will be responsible for worldwide creative for McCann's General Mills account, which he also led at Campbell Mithun.

"It's a smart thing for General Mills and it fits into [Mr. Hurst's] personal life," Mr. Mouser said.
