Mike Leathers Moves Up at Trailer Park
In a move concurrent with the expansion of its television division, entertainment-marketing agency Trailer Park has promoted Mike Leathers to president and co-creative director, and has named Sarah Pierce senior VP and co-creative director. Prior to his promotion, Mr. Leathers was senior VP and creative director for the division since 2006. Most recently, Ms. Pierce was VP of on-air promotion, emerging networks at NBC Cable Entertainment.
Karna Crawford has joined Engauge as executive VP-chief media and connections officer. Ms. Crawford moves to the agency from Coca-Cola's sparkling business unit, where she was director-media and interactive, leading a team that handled the unit's media strategy and planning of initiatives and sponsorships including My Coke Rewards, NCAA and the Olympics. Before her tenure at Coke, Ms. Crawford developed business strategies for key Miller brands. During her 15 years in the industry, she has been recognized by the Advertising Research Foundation for outstanding research innovation, and received Promo magazine's interactive marketing award for search, as well as numerous Webby and Addy awards.
Moxie Interactive, a division of Zenith Media Services and one of the top five interactive marketing agencies in the United States, announced three new hires to its Los Angeles office: Paul Santello joins as senior VP-group communications director; Brian Mathena became VP-group media director; and Sara Francis has come aboard as VP-group account director. Both Mr. Santello and Mr. Mathena were execs at Carat, and Ms. Francis was senior VP-marketing at KTV Digital Media. The trio will play an integral role in developing and executing campaigns for 20th Century Fox.
Tesla Motors named former Harley-Davidson executive Michael van der Sande senior VP-global sales, marketing and service. Mr. Van der Sande joined Harley-Davidson in 1996 and was most recently VP-managing director for operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, overseeing more than 370 dealerships in nearly three dozen countries. Mr. Van der Sande, a Dutch native, brings to Tesla extensive knowledge of the European regulatory and consumer market. In the spring, Tesla began taking orders for the all-electric, zero-emission Roadster in Europe, and will begin European Union deliveries in spring 2009. Mr. Van der Sande's grandparents drove in the Monte Carlo Rally on the French Riviera and he himself holds a racing license.
Travel Ad Network tapped USNews.com's Ron Bernstein for the newly created position of senior VP-sales. Mr. Bernstein had been senior VP-general manager of online sales and marketing at USNews.com since January 2008. From 2005 to 2007, he headed two sales divisions at Rodale: interactive sales, then integrated marketing solutions. Travel Ad Network has become the No. 1 worldwide travel audience in October comScore rankings, surpassing TripAdvisor.
Cartoon Network and Adult Swim Ad Sales promoted Adult Swim Ad Sales VP Josh Feldman to VP and New York sales manager. In his previous role, Mr. Feldman and his team developed strategic partnerships with clients around shows such as "Robot Chicken," "Family Guy" and the 2007 release of "Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters." Mr. Feldman started his sales career with Turner Broadcasting and worked as an account executive for sister networks TBS and TNT before moving over to his current division.
Allen & Gerritsen hired Jon Hickey as senior VP-managing director of sports and entertainment. Most recently, Mr. Hickey served as senior VP-sports and entertainment marketing at Mullen, where he worked with such clients as GM Credit Card, LendingTree and Mass Mutual. Prior to Mullen, he was VP-marketing for the Boston Celtics.
