People on the Move: Jodi Kahn Promoted to President of iVillage

Jodi Kahn has been promoted to the newly created position of president of iVillage. Ms. Kahn joined iVillage in the fall of 2008 as exec VP, and under her leadership, the entire business was re-engineered and its site successfully relaunched. She also helped spark the company's community challenges in health and education initiatives, several of which were launched in partnership with the White House. In the past year, Ms. Kahn created iVillage's video and mobile strategy, with the launch of five original web video series, as well as the "iVillage App Network." Before joining iVillage, she was president-global digital media for Readers Digest Association, where she ran and built digital businesses across the company. Prior to that , Ms. Kahn spent 16 years at Time Inc., where she held a number of senior-level positions in consumer marketing and business management.

Gilt City, Gilt Groupe's lifestyle site that features offers for local luxury experiences, has appointed Carolyn Bekkedahl to the newly created role of chief revenue officer. Ms. Bekkedahl previously served as president-chief revenue officer at Mochila, Inc. where she was responsible for all business ventures and revenue for the internet media company. Prior to Mochila, she was president-active lifestyle and entertainment groups at American Media, and senior VP-publisher at Shape Magazine. Ms. Bekkedahl is a founding member of Internet Content Syndication.

Deutsch, Los Angeles, has hired Matt Ian to partner with Michael Kadin in leading creative on the Volkswagen account as exec VP-group creative directors. Mr. Ian is best known for developing the creative that launched the Axe brand in the U.S., as well as his "Tea Partay" work for Smirnoff Raw Tea. He comes to Deutsch from CP+B in Boulder, where he was creative director on the Microsoft Windows business. Prior to CP+B, Mr. Ian spent nine years at BBH in New York, writing and directing campaigns for brands such as Johnnie Walker, Levi's, VitaminWater, Smirnoff Raw Tea, Sprite, and Axe. He also spent time at both TBWA Chiat/Day and Ogilvy in New York before landing at BBH in 2002.

Meantime, in New York, Deutsch has added three new executives on the Microsoft business: Talia Handler and Julia Rubinic as senior VP-group account directors, and Mike Shackle as senior VP-group creative director. Ms. Handler hails from Ogilvy & Mather New York, where she was senior partner-executive marketing director, overseeing all of IBM's "Smarter Planet" integrated marketing and advertising initiatives. Prior to Ogilvy, Ms. Handler spent four years at DraftFCB Worldwide on a range of major accounts, including Nivea for Women, Hampton Inn and Computer Associates. Ms. Rubinic most recently worked at Logitech as global web-marketing director, leading a team in the strategy, design, and development of, the company's ecommerce-enabled website. Before joining Logitech, she spent 10 years at R/GA, spearheading client engagement, digital strategy, and new business efforts resulting in Walmart, Cablevision, and Lowe 's Home Improvement account wins. Mr. Shackle's creative portfolio includes work for Dell, Coca-Cola, Gap, Nickelodeon, Land Rover, and Singapore Airlines. Most recently, he was executive creative director at BBH, New York, where he led creative for the global Vaseline and Ally Bank accounts.

Ed Williams, director-communications at the BBC since 2008, will leave the BBC in October and join Edelman as CEO of its U.K. business. Prior to the BBC, Mr. Williams was director-communications at Reuters. Before that , he spent five years at Brunswick as a director, specializing in corporate advisory and campaigns, and was a pro bono adviser to the International Crisis Group and to General Wesley Clark during the Slobodan Milosevic trial. Mr. Williams has also worked as a political speechwriter. He began his career in journalism at London News Service.

The Advocate has promoted Joe Valentino to publisher for its news brands. Mr. Valentino has been with the company since 1998 and most recently served as VP-associate publisher of The Advocate and Out and as publisher of HIV Plus . In his new capacity, he will be responsible for sales and advertising campaigns across the multiple extensions of the Advocate brand, including print, its website, and its newly launched mobile news application.

On the heels of being named multicultural agency of record for PACCAR Parts, DraftFCB Chicago has tapped Ken Muench, currently its director-multicultural strategic planning, to transfer to DrafFCB Orange County in mid-August and assume the role of senior VP-director of strategic planning. He will remain a key member of the planning department in Chicago, as well as oversee strategy for the agency's multicultural business. Mr. Muench joined DraftFCB Chicago in December 2009 and has helped grow millennial and multicultural marketing there. Meanwhile, Felipe Cabrer, formerly with Grupo Gallegos, will join DraftFCB, Chicago, next week as a multicultural planning director, working closely with Mr. Muench. Luis Salles also recently joined the shop as a multicultural planning director on its MillerCoors brands. He was previously a planning director at the New York office of Euro RSCG, and before that , Grey .
