John Muszynski Was Director for Investment and Operations

CHICAGO ( -- John Muszynski has been promoted to CEO of media agency Starcom USA, Chicago, part of Publicis Groupe's Starcom MediaVest Group.
John Muszynski is the new CEO of Starcom USA.

Mr. Muszynski, 46, was managing director for investment and operations since April 2004. He succeeds Renetta McCann, who last year was promoted to CEO of Starcom MediaVest Group, the Americas.

Started at Leo Burnett
Mr. Muszynski started at the media department of Leo Burnett USA, also part of Publicis, in 1981. He started in planning and strategy side of the business before joining the broadcast investment group in 1990. In 1999 he was promoted to chief broadcast investment officer.

In that position, he helped Starcom MediaVest launch the broadband upfront market. He was a founding member of Starcom's video investment group, a team that takes a media-neutral approach to planning for TV, broadband and other visual media.

"He has the tenacity and the authority to embrace change, and was the clear choice to lead one of the most innovative and admired agencies in the media business," Ms. McCann said in a release.
