Capital One invites BBDO, Atlanta, into the fold

Capital One is becoming the latest in an expanding list of expensive headaches for DDB, Chicago, and a sibling shop is only making the pain more acute. The credit-card company has added Omnicom Group's BBDO, Atlanta, to its roster of agencies, marking the second time this year that the Southern shop has poked DDB in the eye. Earlier this year, BBDO, Atlanta, managed to swipe Dell Computer's $250 million consumer account from DDB.

Initiative reclaims $42M Gateway media account

PC marketer Gateway has returned its $42 million media account to Initiative, according to two executives familiar with the deal. The computer company has left Aegis' Carat to return to the Interpublic Group of Cos. media agency, which held the account through 2003.

Sony seeks agency for corporate branding effort

Sony Corp. is reaching out to multiple ad agencies to create its first corporate branding campaign in years. The search is being driven by Sony Chief Marketing Officer Andrew House and the marketer is known to have had talks with agencies owned by Interpublic Group of Cos., Omnicom Group and WPP Group.
