Here's how one team of experts is approaching the challenge of developing a golfer looking for her first win on the LPGA Tour. Natalie Gulbis, 24, is entering her fifth year on tour and is ranked No. 20, according to the Rolex World Rankings.

Marketing team at Octagon: Led by agent Giff Breed, along with manager Kim King and strategic communications exec Kathy Connors.

Goal: To make Ms. Gulbis a well-known icon through mainstream consumer marketing and entertainment channels.

Accomplished so far: Ms. Gulbis was the first female golfer whose likeness appeared in the best-selling EA Sports video game "Tiger Woods PGA Tour." She also stars in a reality series, "The Natalie Gulbis Show," on the Golf Channel (launched in November 2005; third season airs next fall).

Recent deals: Non-golf industry brands including MasterCard, Canon, Anheuser-Busch, accounting firm RSM McGladrey, Life Fitness and 24-Hour Fitness within the past year. Her core golf-industry sponsors include TaylorMade-Adidas, SkyCaddie and Winn Grips.

Next up: Sponsorship deals in online media, cellphones, fashion, cosmetics and fragrances.
