John Abel to general manager-global brand marketing, Mazda, based in Tokyo. He succeeds David Klan, now director-marketing, North American operations, a new position based in Irvine, Calif. Previously Mr. Abel was Mazda's director-marketing communications, Europe, based in Leverkusen, Germany.

Christopher Steward to exec VP-advertising sales, Asia/Pacific, at MTV Networks, from exec VP-sales and operations at Sydus, a firm specializing in delivery of streaming music to mobile handsets. He remains in Singapore, although he will also oversee the startup and operation of Viacom Brand Solutions offices in Seoul, South Korea, and Tokyo. He succeeds Toby Hayward, who resigned from MTV.

Laura Wendt to VP-channel manager, Southeast Asia, Walt Disney Television International, Singapore, from senior VP-research and planning, Nickelodeon Networks Entertainment Group, New York. She succeeds Raymund Miranda, who has left the company.
