Moxie kicked off 2012 with arguably the year's most curious ten seconds with a super short teaser starring Matthew Broderick apparently reprising his most famous cinematic role of Ferris Bueller. The teaser whet viewers' appetites to RPA and Honda's huge Super Bowl spot directed by Todd Phillips, which showed the actor pulling off the stunts of his youth but ditching his celebrity responsibilities to take a spin in the 2012 Honda CR-V.
Neil Gorringe also performed a pair of Olympic feats, directing what turned out to be spots from one of the Games' most charming campaigns, for McDonald's out of Leo Burnett London as well as a spot of British Airways, which brought the thrill of competition to the airport terminal--and luggage.
Errol Morris brought his unique documentary approach to a hilarious peek at sports fans through the lens of funerals, in a fabulous documentary for ESPN out of Wieden + Kennedy New York and also told Nike's tale of LeBron James' meteoric rise alongside that of a jeweler's creation of the NBA championship ring, out of W+K Portland.
Other 2012 highlights include Frank Todaro's cute father and son tale, for Weetabix, in which a young boy puts his papa through the paces and Martin Granger's weird walrus boyfriend tale, for Skittles out of DDB Chicago.
2012 saw the departure of headliner director Wes Anderson, who directed Sony's fanciful "Made of Imagination" out of McCann New York, but also saw addition of new directors includeing "Arbitrage" director Nicholas Jarecki, Ramin Bahrani, documentarian Tomas Leach, Adria Petty and MJ Leach.
