Director Bryan Fogel has joined Supply & Demand for commercial representation. Fogel arrives as Netflix releases his documentary "Icarus," which the streamer acquired at Sundance for $5 million. The film earned "The Orwell" Special Jury Prize during the Park City festival, and won the first-ever Audience Award at The Sundance Film Festival: London. It also opened the Washington-based documentary festival, AFI Docs.
B-Reel Films (BRF) has signed director Eva Michon to its roster. Born in Johannesburg, Michon grew up in Toronto and began her career making music videos for bands such as Owen Pallett and Head Wound City, before expanding into the commercial and narrative filmmaking world for clients including Canon, Lincoln Motor Company, and Facebook. She is also the co-founder and editor-in-chief of Bad Day, a biannual arts and culture magazine. Most recently, she wrote and directed a short film, "Small Fry."
Big Block has added comedic director Richard Farmer to its roster of directors. His work includes recent LG spots that took well-known memes, from "Double Rainbow" to "Damn Daniel" and "remastered" them in high quality. Farmer began his advertising career as an agency producer in Los Angeles after spending time in London, Seattle and Prague, working on indie films and videos. He went on to produce for Mindfield, a production, editorial, and animation company for commercial television and music videos. He began his directing career out of Smuggler as one-half of the team Happy, alongside director Guy Shelmerdine.
Director Raúl B Fernández has joined the roster of Cap Gun Collective. He has worked with brands such as Toyota, Chevrolet, Amazon, Johnnie Walker, Coca-Cola, Heinz, Captain Morgan and Durex, and has won awards including a Cannes Lion and a D&AD Pencil. When not working in the commercial world, he collaborates with the musical comedy trio The Cooties, recently featured at Montreal's "Just For Laughs" comedy festival.
Brooklyn-based production company Tinygiant has promoted producer Ella Nuortila to executive producer. Originally from Finland, Nuortila moved to New York to work for Salty Features, a documentary production company. Since she joined Tinygiant in 2014, the company has won a Silver Lion at Cannes and a Webby Award for director Charlie Mysak's Adaptoys campaign "Play Without Limits."
Cutters Studios has promoted Dustin Kaufman to the position of editor, leading the launch of a satellite studio in Kansas City. His editorial suite, within the offices of creative content and experience design studio Hint, will open in September. Kaufman earned his first job from Cutters in 2013 as an assistant editor. His latest reel features his recent work on comedic spots for Dairy Queen via Barkley and Courtyard by Marriott via Mcgarrybowen, spots for Gatorade via VML and McDonald's via Leo Burnett.
Production company Rocket Film, which has recently launched in New York and Los Angeles, has promoted its head of sales and new business development Susanne Kelly to executive producer in its New York office. Kelly will continue working on business development and sales on the East Coast, while increasing collaboration with the company's Midwest and West Coast sales teams.
