Small Agency of the Year, 76-150 Employees, Gold: Wong, Doody, Crandall, Wiener
Wong, Doody, Crandall, Wiener operates as a "creative democracy" -- a philosophy that states that great ideas can come from anyone in the agency, no matter their title. Agency leaders claim the shop offers a work-life balance that's hard to come by at big agency networks, which leads to happier employees with better ideas at any rank.
Established in 1993, the agency has grown to 110 employees in its offices in Seattle and Los Angeles and boasts $22.8 million in revenue last year from clients like T-Mobile, Alaska Airlines and Scion.
Wong Doody also handled TV creative for Amazon's first brand campaign ever, for the Kindle Fire HD e-reader. As e-reader competition began increasing, Amazon realized it must market itself as a technology leader in the space. So Wong Doody's work took the iPad head on and enabled Amazon to achieve its best holiday season in 2012. And the Kindle Fire HD was the top-selling and most-gifted item on Amazon that season.
