INSIDE LINE: Discover Card gives refuge to shopping-mates

Discover Financial Services' Discover Card aims to promote shopping this fall by providing harried partners of shoppers a place to rest. Discover this month unveils the "Boyfriend Bench," a luxury tour bus that will visit high-traffic shopping zones. The vehicle boasts comfortable seats, satellite TV, snacks and appearances by sports luminaries. This fall the bus, created in-house by Discover, goes to New York and other cities.

"Got milk?" teams with professional soccer as the marketing program of Dairy Management Inc. and the National Fluid Milk Processor Education Program became an official sponsor of Major League Soccer through the 2001 season. The deal represents the first tie-in of "Got milk?" and a professional sports league. As part of the deal, MLS players will appear in national "Got milk?" print ads starting next year, and the marketing effort will get exposure via on-field boards. Player appearances also are included.

Korbel Champagne Cellars signed on as an official sponsor of the 2000, 2002 and 2004 U.S. Olympic teams and the 2002 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Korbel plans to host a post-event "Korbel Night of Olympic Champions" Nov. 29 in Washington.
