INSIDE LINE: Homemade bikini contest marks 12th year

"Homemade Bikini Contest" this month kicks off its 12th year, sponsored by Allied Domecq Spirits & Wines USA's Sauza Hornitos tequila and Charles Jacquin & Co.'s Hot Sex liqueur. Competitions are expected at 100 establishments this year, up from 63 in 1999. Winners of local events will compete at the finals Sept. 3 in Houston, sponsored by Todd Hunter Importers' Coco Lopez mixer. Men and women are eligible; one past entry consisted of a suit featuring water-filled bags of live goldfish. Patrick Henry Creative Promotions, Dallas, handles.

Wal-Mart Stores will assume title sponsorship of what Operation Bass calls the world's largest bass fishing competition, the 119-event Red Man Tournament Trail. The sponsorship begins in 2001; Wal-Mart continues as the major sponsor of Operation Bass' Wal-Mart FLW Tour and the EverStart Series, named for its top-selling battery brand. Separately, tackle systems marketer Plano Molding Co. has joined as a sponsor of the Wal-Mart FLW Tour.

Tommy Hilfiger USA this summer sponsors its second annual series of footraces for the entire family, with 13 races in 10 states. About 20,000 runners are expected this year, with proceeds going to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Hilfiger will provide on-site presence and product marketing.
