Advertising Age's selection of Crispin Porter & Bogusky as Agency of the Year shows not only the billings bonanza the agency has ridden for the last year, but also the innovation the agency has wrought on the industry, tapping the Internet and other media venues for marketing. Echoing that change, Ad Age decided to open its Best Agencies contest to multicultural, direct, public relations and interactive agencies. You will also notice a new star-rating system this year. Our editors graded shops on a scale of 1 to 5 stars in specific areas, including net growth, management, and creative quality and marketing effectiveness.
