Eddy Moretti and Shane Smith originally appeared on the Creativity 50 in 2008, after launching with Viacom, showing that the media company wasn't just concerned with street culture and skateboarding, but wide ranging and "important" topics including environmental issues and political strife.

Since then, Vice has literally exploded across the media world. The company has gone on to partner with HBO on longform documentary programs and in 2016 it will debut Viceland, a new cable channel with A&E Networks that promises to transform the infomercial. Disney, which now backs the company, recently doubled its investment to $400 million, valuing Vice at $4 billon.
