The Top 5 creative brand ideas you need to know about right now: April 22, 2019
Welcome to our weekly rundown of the Top 5 most innovative brand ideas you need to know about right now.
5. Carlsberg: ‘Probably not the best beer in the world,' Fold7
After calling itself “Probably the best beer in the world” for more than 30 years, Danish brew Carlsberg is leveling with us. To grow market share, the brand admits it focused on quantity over quality, and now it’s reformulating. U.K. agency Fold7 rebranded it with the brutally honest tagline: “Probably not the best beer in the world.”
4. Apple: ‘Don’t Mess With Mother’
Apple celebrates Earth Day with a pulse-pounding mini-nature documentary shot, of course, on iPhone XS. The tech giant enlisted production company Camp4 Collective, which shot scenes of stampeding herds and volcanic eruptions in nine countries around the world, set to the Megadeth classic “Last Rites.”
3. Taco Bell: ‘Taco ReBELLion,' Deutsch
Taco Bell channels “The Warriors” and “Beat It” in a dance battle between rival street gangs. The throwback spot from Deutsch has rivals stabbing each other in slow motion with hard-shell tacos, all to destroy the tyranny of Taco Tuesday. Starting this week, the Bell is selling taco party packs every day.
2. Pyer Moss: ‘Seven Mothers'
Rather than show his new collection at New York Fashion Week, Pyer Moss founder Kerby Jean-Raymond opted instead to create a short film that tells the story of the loss of his mother, and the seven women who stepped up to help raise him. Written and directed by Director X and produced out of M ss ng P eces, the film made its debut at a pop-up collaboration with Reebok in New York's Soho neighborhood.
1. Foxtel: ‘Grave of Thrones,' DDB Sydney
Brands worldwide tried to cash in on the premiere of the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones.” Australian broadcaster Foxtel filled an entire graveyard with the tombs of characters who’ve been killed off in the notoriously bloody series. DDB Sydney’s work features the graves of fan favorites like Khal Drogo, Littlefinger and Hodor.
