As 2022 comes to an end, it’s time to look back at the best marketing of the year—not just campaigns and customer experiences that grabbed attention, but those that drove revenue. These are the accomplishments recognized by the Ad Age’s annual Marketers of the Year list, which this year features eight companies, one sports league and one person that exemplified excellence, both in marketing and, more importantly, business strategies.
This year’s list includes a retailer that beat the competition on all fronts, using relentless marketing innovation, as well as multiple examples of brands that broke into popular culture. We also highlight a couple of challenger brands that outmaneuvered the giants in their categories. For a lot of brands, purpose marketing is just a buzzword, but one company on our list showed how the approach can fuel great business results. We also recognize one of the entertainment industry’s hottest acts—not for her singing ability, but for her ability to create marketing magic.
