After reports of some barbers around the country refusing to cut the hair of transgender people, Barba Men's Grooming Boutique in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood enlisted New York's Terri & Sandy to stake out its own position.
The agency produced a video in which reporters read headlines about acts of discrimination as a traditional barber pole transformed into the pink, white and blue colors of the trans flag. "Strands for Trans" went on to generate 14 million media impressions, the agency says, and Marc Jacobs even donned a Barba-created pink, white and blue hairstyle, sharing it with 2 million social-media followers.
