In 2001, USA Network decided to launch a new initiative that would strengthen its relationship with Hollywood studios and create opportunities for co-branding. That's a big reason why it hired Jennifer Cohen, 29, as senior manager-consumer promotion and event marketing in Los Angeles.

Ms. Cohen has met the challenge, says Sarah Beatty, senior VP-marketing at USA, part of Universal Television Networks. "If I had to think of one overriding thing that makes her as good as she is, it's not just her dedication to the job, but her people sense," says Ms. Beatty. "She has the ability to develop really good relationships-to nurture and grow them."

In the future, Ms. Cohen says, she'd like to marry her love for sports with her knowledge of the movie and TV businesses, and create new ways to cross-promote all these entertainment venues. "I see a lot of opportunity there that's untapped," she says. "It's not something you see all the time."
