One can't accuse Paul Osen of being one-dimensional in his creative interests. The 29-year-old art director at Interpublic Group of Cos.-aligned GlobalHue, Southfield, Mich. also creates videos and produces music for work and free-lance. He started airbrush art at 16 and co-founded, promoting area musicians . "I'm not the type of guy to limit my creativity and can apply it to each medium," Mr. Osen says.

The Detroit native's work at the multicultural shop includes DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler Group, Salomon Smith Barney and the U.S. Navy. In his first college advertising class in 1995, Ms. Osen says, he learned what creative directors did and decided he wanted to be one.

"He's an entrepreneur" and "totally hip-hop," says his boss, Damon Davis, creative director. When asked whether it's tricky for the white man to work on multicultural ads, Mr. Davis quips that Ms. Osen "has no idea he's white. We call him our resident Eminem."
