It's easy for media buying agencies to encounter communication breakdowns as they work with industry allies on large, multiyear barter accounts. But when the client is Eastman Kodak Co., with its special focus on beautiful imagery, clear and friendly dialogue with media outlets is all the more imperative. It's in that area that Tara Cioffi, 29, shines at MindShare in her role as planning supervisor.

"When I started here, it was the first thing that was thrown at me," Ms. Cioffi says of the Kodak print campaign, adding, "I was given a lot of responsibility." Ms. Cioffi also works with Kodak in developing spot TV strategies. And she was key to a special competitive analysis that could help the WPP Group buying unit grow its Kodak business in the future, says Joe Warren, senior partner-strategic planning director at MindShare.

As Ms. Cioffi's career progresses, Mr. Warren says he can envision her running a large magazine group within an agency. "She can go as far as she wants to go."
