Derek Jeter's previously announced retirement sent new waves through the interwebs last week with a new video by Nike honoring the five-time World Series champion in his final season for the MLB.
As Jeter gets ready for a pitch, the clip shows a host of athletes, celebrities and public figures including Jay-Z, Michael Jordan and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani tipping their caps in respect. (It even shows three Mets players acknowledging their crosstown rival, faces pixelated for safety.) It amassed over 7.3 million views last week, making it to No. 3 on this week's edition of the Viral Video Chart, covering the week that ended on Sunday.
But the No. 1 spot on the chart went to Samsung and its video promoting the Milk Music app, starring musicians including Childish Gambino and Iggy Azalea. The video actually debuted on the viral chart earlier this month, then fell off and now has stormed back. Samsung also took the No. 2 spot with a six-minute soccer-themed video and No. 5 with a video about its new Galaxy Tab S tablet.
Rounding out the top ten is Shock Top in a lively spot featuring two freestyle rappers who prank unsuspecting guests at the 2014 Los Angeles Beer Festival. It garnered 2.6 million views last week, according to Visible Measures, and was also a Creativity Editor's Pick.
