In one summer, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has graced the cover of GQ, flirted with the idea of a presidential run and generally seemed to appear everywhere at every moment. There was was on billboards, on HBO, in song credits and front and center for a "Baywatch" revamp that even his biceps couldn't save.
But The Rock saved his greatest achievement for last: Hitting the top spot of the weekly Ad Age Viral Video Chart, with his performance in Apple's "The Rock x Siri Dominate the Day."
Ok, maybe it's not his premier Summer '17 achievement — but it definitely tops "Baywatch."
The Apple spot features "The Rock" travelling to space, flying to Rome, painting an Italian chapel a la Michelangelo, designing his own fashion line, plating a five-star dish, and, of course, saving the day — all with the help of his personal assistant, Siri.
Apple and "The Rock" hyped it up plenty, advertising the three-and-a-half-minute spot as a "movie." (Business Insider's film review chalked it up as a "missed opportunity," calling out a lack of character development.)
Other big spots include "Samsung Cares For India" and "Amazon App," which were No. 1 and 2 last week, respectively. Samsung's spot had nearly 28 million views this week and Amazon garnered 9.3 million. Our VVC, compiled by Visible Measures, includes both paid and organic views.
