Brent Prince, an editor at Blue Rock in New York, directed and co-wrote a campaign for New York's Brooklyn Cyclones minor league baseball team with fellow Blue Rock cutter Laura Richards. In the spots, pairs of salt-of-the-earth working class guys do Scorsese-style dialogue in which they basically come off as lovable idiots. Lotta real Brooklyn flava here, and a great flair for dialogue is demonstrated. "We liked the idea of writing a campaign for the Cyclones because they're a new team housed in a new stadium," explains Prince. "Other than their promos, the Cyclones really don't have a campaign. And being a minor league team, we thought we could get away with more, creatively speaking, and still keep the spots professional. The Cyclones organization responded very positively to our spots, and we're negotiating with the general manager to get them on the air." As for his career, "I think it's a natural progression for an editor to become a director," says Prince. "But calling yourself a director and getting paid to direct are two different things. Laura and I have a few more shoots lined up; we'll see how it goes."
