Canada companies raise 2004 spending

[Toronto] In a new quarterly Canadian Survey of Marketing Budgets, 23% of the leading Canadian companies surveyed revised their existing marketing budgets upwards for the first quarter of 2004, and 39% have budgeted for increased spending this year over 2003. The research, involving interviews with 270 marketing executives, was conducted by NTC Research, which does a similar quarterly survey in the U.K. called the Bellwether Report. Among the findings, spending on media showed a weaker gain than sales promotion, direct marketing and other activities, while Internet-related marketing showed the highest rate of increase.
