Pereira takes helm at AKQA in SF

[Sao Paulo, Brazil] P.J. Pereira, one of the best-known interactive creatives outside the U.S. and president of this year's cyber jury at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, moves to the U.S. from Brazil this week as executive creative director of digital agency AKQA in San Francisco. Mr. Pereira's hiring comes right after AKQA signed up Lars Bastholm, from leading Scandinavian agency Framfab, to open a New York office for AKQA, and created the post of global creative director for Rei Inamoto, who joined from Interpublic Group of Cos.' R/GA. The moves represent a gathering of international creative talent at a time when much of the most interesting digital work is coming from outside the U.S. Mr. Bastholm's former agency Framfab has won three cyber Grand Prix awards at Cannes since 2000 for Nike work. And Mr. Pereira, 31, has picked up 14 cyber Lions, including a Grand Prix, at Cannes. Before joining AKQA, he was VP-creative director and co-founder of AgenciaClick, Brazil's largest interactive agency, where his clients included Coca-Cola Co., MSN, Fiat and Whirlpool.
