'Fringe' Doesn't Dominate Ratings, But Social Media Is Another Story

In last week's chart tallying the top TV shows on entertainment check-in service GetGlue, the CW's "Nikita" set a record. This week it falls short of that high-water mark, but still holds on to the No. 1 spot. Scroll down below the graphic for more notes and context.

  • A highly anticipated fresh episode of the CW's "Nikita" took the top spot in our last chart by an unprecedented margin of 77,660 (136,329 check-ins vs. 58,669 for No. 2 finisher "The Big Bang Theory"). This week the show loses some of its altitude, with a "mere" 92,760 check-ins. That still leaves plenty of air (23,470 check-ins) between it and "Big Bang."
  • ABC's "Once Upon A Time " continues to do well among the check-in-inclined social-TV crowd. It jumps up a spot this week, to No. 6, gaining more than 5,000 check-ins. In terms of ratings , it's winning its Sunday-night time slot, notching 9.2 million viewers for its most recent episode, according to Nielsen.
  • Fox's "Fringe," in our No. 8 spot, isn't exactly a ratings blockbuster -- Nielsen reports 3.1 million viewers for last Friday's episode -- but its fans are vocal in social media and have been campaigning for its renewal. Last Thursday, Fox granted their wishes, announcing that the show will live on a bit longer (for a fifth and final season).
  • Once again, NBC's "The Voice" and Fox's "American Idol" close out our chart, snuggled up against each other at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively. Get a room already, you two!
