AOL will lean on online television technology provider Brightcove to deliver video throughout the AOL network, the companies announced this week.
When the deal kicks in early next year, AOL and its programming partners will use Brightcove's technology to deliver video across the AOL sites, such as AOL Video, AOL Music, Moviefone, Asylum, Lemondrop and Engadget and others.
Brightcove recently rolled out a new technology platform and is servicing major television networks such as Showtime and Lifetime with it. The AOL deal is significant as it gives Brightcove another high-profile client.
AOL has been a minority stakeholder in Brightcove since 2006.
