Disneyâs Robert Iger said the company soon will open up its ABC/Disney TV archives and offer classic series online, Silicon Alley
Insider notes. NBC and CBS already have released some of their older series online with great success. Also, in an attempt to tap into its original contentâs viral potential, ABC has made its Web series âSqueegeesâ embeddable through YouTube, NewTeeVee
notes. The series, released last week as ABCâs first joint venture with YouTube, is the first production for Stage 9 Digital Media, ABC-Disneyâs experimental studio focused on creating short-form original content. Disney-ABC Television Group president and Disney Media Networks co-chair Anne Sweeney said at this weekâs American Association of Advertising Agencies conference that in the first 18 weeks of the current TV season, 124 million full-length TV episodes were viewed through ABC.comâs video player, up 178% from the same time last year, MediaWeek
reports. Sweeney also said viewers who watch content online and then go back to television tend to be younger.
