Hulu Users Love Clips; Time Warner, Viacom Will Join

Recent numbers from ComScore say that of the 10 billion videos streamed online, the average length was only 2.8 minutes. Kevin McGurn, Hulu’s vice president of sales, says those numbers do not reflect Hulu users. On Hulu 85% of the content is full length and 65% of users watch clips the whole way through, he said. Hulu, it should be noted, is still in its private testing phase and counts tech folk, media insiders and TV lovers as its users. MTV president Van Toffler tells NewTeeVee that he likes Hulu “a lot” and has “been talking to them since the beginning,” fueling speculation that MTV could use the Web video site for its own original content. Although there is no official deal with Viacom, MTV’s parent company, Time Warner has signed on for a nonexclusive deal with the video service, Valleywag reports.
