The Associated Press will use technology from online video provider thePlatform to power its video content across more than 2,000 media sites. AP will roll out the technology by December and use it to distribute video clips online to more than 2,000 newspaper, broadcast and other sites in the AP network in the United States. Comcast Corp. owns thePlatform. ThePlatform CEO Ian Blaine said the deal is significant because of the sheer number of sites AP will be steering content to and from. The service will also let sites within the AP network share video content with each other, Mr. Blaine said.
