BMW has launched the first of four films in an online documentary series centered around its first electric car, the ActiveE.

The New City focuses on the future of urban environments. An intro featuring Buzz Aldrin is followed by interviews with the likes of Robin Chase, co-founder and former CEO of Zipcar, Marissa Mayer, VP of consumer products at Google, and Lawrence Burns, co-author of Reinventing the Automobile. They discuss issues affecting cities, such as tackling parking, re-routing highways, such as in Boston, transportation and the size of apartments.

The video player allows viewers to access additional content around a theme, quote, or speaker in real time, while giving them the option to pause the main viewer. They can also post their own thoughts or comments directly to specific moments of the film for others to see and react to.

The series, Wherever You Want to Go: Four Films About the Future of Mobility, was created by KBS+P in conjunction with BMW's open innovation project around the ActiveE. The next film, entitled The Future Just Isn't What It Used To Be, launches February 8th.
