The Ad Council's 'Love Has No Labels' takes on the 'toxic polarization' of America
Campaign in partnership with StoryCorps aims to bring people together across the ideological spectrum for meaningful conversation

The Ad Council's "Love Has No Labels" campaign has always been about emphasizing the power of human love and that people can come together despite their beliefs. Now, in its latest effort, it aims to bring people in an increasingly polarized America together across the ideological spectrum.
The Ad Council has partnered with StoryCorps, a national nonprofit dedicated to recording, preserving, and sharing the stories of Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs, and agency Wordsworth+ Booth to create a series of radio PSAs, plus digital out of home ads and online banners (seen below) that feature meaningful conversations between individuals with very different beliefs, political views and life experiences.
The campaign website allows people to listen to more of these conversations, plus provides resources on ways to participate in the campaign, called "One Small Step."
“By bringing together strangers of different perspectives to have courageous and meaningful conversations about their lives, 'One Small Step' helps to decrease feelings of contempt across political divides, allowing Americans to see one another as human beings," said Dave Isay, founder and president of StoryCorps, in a statement. "We have developed a proven method to address the toxic polarization in this country, and we are excited to work with our partners to help remind the country that it’s our patriotic duty to see the humanity in those with whom we may disagree.”
“There is profound value in engaging in conversation with one another to remind ourselves of our shared humanity and work towards a more united, empathetic world,” added Council President and CEO Lisa Sherman.
