The intersection of technology and digital art is bringing about some amazing projects. Earlier this year we saw ING and JWT Amsterdam create a portrait in the style of Rembrandt using 3D printing technology, and now Adobe has recreated some famous lost, stolen and destroyed artistic masterpieces using stock photos and Photoshop, in a campaign by Goodby Silverstein & Partners.

To promote its Adobe Stock facility, the company challenged four digital artists from its Behance artist community to recreate lost, stolen or destroyed art using just Adobe Stock photography. The artists and their assigned pieces of art included Ecuadorian artist Karla Cordova and Frida Kahlo's "The Wounded Table"; Jean-Charles Debroize of France and Caravaggio's "Saint Matthew and the Angel;" U.S. artist Mike Campau and Karl Friedrich Schinkel's "Cathedral Towering Over a Town;" and India's Ankur Patar and Rembrandt van Rijn's "The Storm on the Sea of Galilee" (you can find out more about how this one was done in a Behind the Scenes film.)

The "Make a Masterpiece" website features the finished masterpieces, time lapse videos showing the finished pieces coming together, bios and backgrounds of the four artists, and several "how to" tutorials. It's planned for the site to include more recreations of artworks.
