Kevin Spacey Channels Frank Underwood in 'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare' Trailer
Activision Taps Actor for Menacing Role in New Game
Editor's Pick
Activision goes big -- really big -- for its newest trailer for "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare," set to be released on November 4. The game will feature Kevin Spacey as the honcho of a private military contractor at odds with the United States. The trailer follows this short clip featuring Mr. Spacey's creepy, all-seeing eyes and shows substantial bits of his new role, along with the usual action-packed sequences you've come to expect from the franchise.
It's easy to draw comparisons between Mr. Spacey's video game character and his ruthless "House of Cards" Vice President Frank Underwood. In the trailer, he waxes poetic on Americans and their futile, well-meaning attempts to bring tolerant democracy to every single region on the planet. Foolish, of course, because as Mr. Underwood, er, Mr. Spacey, knows, power is what matters -- nobody wants freedom, they just want someone to tell them what to do.
