To advertise his line of summer childrenswear, designer Thom Browne is sending viewers into a different dimension, where children rule and adults are their inferiors.

Two new black-and-white ads feature BAFTA-nominee Alan Kim, star of Oscar-winner “Minari,” and a cast of other stylish little ones sporting crisp and sophisticated seersucker suits on an ideal summer day in NYC.  Titled “...just catching up with the times…” (above) and “...another day in the city…”  (below), they were directed by fashion filmmaker and photographer Cass Bird.

In both, the kids carry briefcases, wear browline sunglasses and drop their adults off at school (where an eerily outfitted woman stiffly rings a bell). Some of the children even lead lines of the adults with walking ropes.

They  include the following bit of poetic copy:

the day begins ...

morning sun ...

city sidewalks ...

seersucker ...

a childhood introduction, a first summer suit ...

but today ...

the adults are children ...

the children are adults ...

finish the paper, eat your breakfast ...

hurry, we can’t be late ...

take a moment, to tie the laces ...

goodbye, darling, until the afternoon ...

the children to their lessons ...

the adults to their work ...

in matching greys ...

time flies ... it’s pick-up hour ...

a little gossip ...

then ...

a happy reunion ...

with children as the adults ...

adults as children ...

The spots are part of the brand’s first campaign for the children’s line, which debuted earlier this with an ad featuring the kids enduring a grueling day at the office (and trying to let off a bit of steam).
