Dougal Wilson Makes Morris Dancing Look Cool in This Surreal Music Video
Eccentric Video for Stealing Sheep Is Blink Director's First Clip in Six Years
Editor's Pick
Blink director Dougal Wilson perhaps has become best known for his commercials (in particular John Lewis) in recent years, but he made his name earlier in his career with music videos for the likes of Goldfrapp and Coldplay.
In his first video in six years, for electronic dance band Stealing Sheep, he's inspired by Morris Dancing -- the traditional English folk dance that's long been the butt of jokes in the U.K. All credit to Wilson that he manages to make it look both cool and surreal by setting it to the clubby soundtrack, and filming it in a chocolate-box English village but with some unsettling creepiness (perhaps nods to "The Wicker Man") and inspired touches (is that telephone box a Tardis or what?). Just keep an eye out on the subtle details that appear, seemingly out of the blue, in the background. A good one to watch in the run-up to Halloween.
Hat tip: It's Nice That.
