Anyone working in advertising might find this a familiar scenario: having to fend off unsolicited ideas for commercials or campaigns from friends, family and even complete strangers.

This year's call for entries campaign for the North American Effie Awards recreates these situations to humorous effect: there's the uncle at the family BBQ who has a great idea for a Nike Super Bowl ad, the friend who has a dark plan for marketing life insurance, the ad-loving elevator superintendent, the car mechanic with unrealistic ideas or, as seen here, the drinking buddy who came up with a great jingle. The tagline "Not every idea is a good idea," pokes fun at the notion that good ideas can come from anywhere.

The ads were created by the Via agency, whose executive creative director Amos Goss had this to say (in a statement): "One of the few perks of working in the ad business are the unsolicited ideas we get from people. For me, it's my accountant and father-in-law. Their ideas are sometimes funny, sometimes insane, usually completely oblivious of all logistics ... but they're always entertaining as hell."
