Beef jerky maker Jack Link's would like you to know that it's not just the "No. 1 U.S. meat snack brand," no sirree. It's also got a serious political side, and is paying close attention to this year's presidential election. To display its involvement, PR agency Carmichael Lynch Spong commissioned mosaic artist Jason Mecier to create portraits made out of the meat snacks.
Perhaps as a metaphor for the deeply complex policy stands of Barack Obameat and Meat Romney, a variety of flavors were used to create the portraits, including Original Beef Jerky, Turkey Jerky, Sweet & Hot Beef Jerky and Original Smokehouse Beef Jerky. Each piece took Mecier approximately 50 hours and 50 bags of jerky to produce.
Previously, Mecier had created a meat portrait of Jack Link's brand icon, Sasquatch. Over on the company's Facebook page, people can vote for their favorite meathead for a chance to win $5,000 and jerky products. See, we told you they were politically-minded. There's also a fascinating making of video, which you can see here. Beware: puns abound. (Think "Meat your candidates," and "Ultimeat.")
