Welsh culture and one of its icons are celebrated in this beautiful animated short. BBC Wales teamed up with Aardman Animations ("Wallace & Gromit") to honor poet Dylan Thomas' life in a three-minute film released just in time for Poetry Day in the U.K.

Welsh actor Michael Sheen recites one of Thomas' works, "The Hunchback in the Park," in voiceover, accompanying evocative visuals. The story is that of a lonely man who finds solace in Cwmdonkin Park in the poet's native South Wales. During production, Aardman reproduced parts of the park in its studio and enlisted staffers to play the characters seen throughout the film.

It also features original music from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, which was performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. It premiered on Oct. 2 and will air on BBC One Wales later this month, to mark what would have been Thomas' 100th birthday.
