John Lewis's animated Bear and Hare ad is brought to life in an e-book with the Bear and Hare app
, developed by London production company supergoober. Narrated by British TV presenter Lauren Laverne in rhyming verse, it fleshes out the story told in the ad with a little Christmas tale for kids, and features more of the 3D animations seen in the spot. Somewhat reminiscent of Winnie The Pooh
, it's nicely done, and a clever piece of marketing by the brand, for which families are a key target audience. John Lewis is also planning to market kids' products, such as pyjamas and onesies, based on the bear and hare tale.
