The perfect test drive.

BSSP and MINI's fun spot is great by itself, but what is more amazing is how it all came together. BSSP asked fans to submit their ideas on what the best test drive ever should be -- in six words. The winner was Mathew Foster, (who happens to be a graphic designer) who submitted the following: stewardess, salt flats, sushi, paratroopers and falconer.

BSSP with Tool USA Director Erich Joiner, brought Foster's idea to life in a 2 minute film and 90-sec cinema spot, and cast him in the ad.

Filming took place in downtown LA where a 20-foot ramp was constructed four blocks from an overpass on a Sunday. The team used drift stunt driver Diajiro Yoshihari in the sequence where the car glides through the air before landing in the desert.

Initially, the idea was to open up with a falcon dropping the key to the car into Foster's hands. But the alternative is much, much better.
