Beautiful BAFTA Posters Use Silhouettes to Reveal Nominees' Deeper Meanings

These beautiful posters were created by Malika Favre for the BAFTAs, the British film awards that took place on Sunday night in London. Ms. Favre, working with studio Human After All, recreated the best film nominees -- "Birdman," "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "Boyhood," "The Theory of Everything" and "The Imitation Game" -- in a distilled, film noir style reminiscent of Saul Bass, following the BAFTA marketing theme of "The Big Reveal."

Each uses silhouette, shadow and light to cleverly reveal what the film is really about; for example, for the "Theory of Everything" we see Stephen Hawking and his wife riding a bicycle in the moonlight, but their shadow shows her pushing him in a wheelchair. Meanwhile, for "Boyhood," which took Best Film, we see a little boy whose shadow reveals him as a much older young man.
