Olivia Colman, Gary Oldman and Winnie the Pooh encapsulate British identity in BA's centenary ad

Oscar-nominated actor Olivia Colman is just one of a host of national treasures to appear in a star-studded new ad from British Airways, celebrating the airline's centenary. The ad, by Ogilvy London, is styled as a "love letter to Britain", and shows cabin crew, pilots and a plane-load of celebrity passengers assembling ready for a special "BA100" flight as they tout British identity, values and characteristics (such as drinking tea, politeness, style and "ideas"). On board are famous faces including actor Gary Oldman, boxer Anthony Joshua, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds and artist Grayson Perry -- as well as as a CGI Winnie the Pooh. With the ad coming out just ahead of Britain's departure from the EU, it seems to have divided opinion on social media, with some saying that it represents Brexit values. However, others praised the feelgood nature of the spot. Directed by Tom Tagholm of Park Pictures, it's nevertheless a well-crafted spot. Although we can't help thinking that if this plane crashes, it really will be a national disaster.
