Chris Evans, aka Captain America, has become the face of Activision's "Call of Duty" in the Chinese market as the star of a blockbuster ad. According to Chinese media, the extended-length spot was shot by award-winning filmmakers Longman Leung and Sunny Luk.

Yesterday in Shanghai, China's Tencent held a press conference and game testing event showcasing the ad and the new game it promotes, "Call of Duty Online," a free-to-play shooter for the Chinese market that Tencent will distribute.

Evans joins the cast of other celebs to appear in big production ads promoting the Activision game, including Robert Downey, Jr., Sam Worthington, Jonah Hill, Taylor Kitsch and Megan Fox -- all of whom appeared in films for the North American market.

Directors Leung and Luk, who were also behind the award-winning Hong Kong thriller "Cold War", shot the spot in Taipei and at an abandoned shipyard in Keelung, Taiwan. COD Online launches in China on Jan. 11.
