Canadian home improvement retailer Home Hardware has created cardboard moving boxes in the shape of cats and dogs to highlight the problem of pet abandonment in Quebec.
Every year in Quebec, renters traditionally move out of their apartments on July 1, and in the chaos of moving,1,600 pets a year are left behind by their owners. Home Hardware partnered with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) for the campaign, by agency John St.
The boxes are aimed at reminding people: if you move, don't leave your pet behind. They will be used to collect donations for the SPCA near checkouts in participating Home Hardware locations in the Montreal area in the weeks leading up to moving day.
